This Ride is on Leg 2 of the Lost Highway 1 Route

Black Road (along with the San Antonio Rd West Connector) is a nice 10 mile ride that will appeal to all. Good road conditions, non-existent traffic and great scenery are all to be found. Used in combination with Harris Grade Rd and San Antonio Rd East rides it can make a great detour route through Hwy 1.

Black Road (and San Antonio West).

The Black Road Intersection on Hwy 1 (North Entrance). This is a well marked intersection although the actual street sign with Black Road on it is difficult to see. If you want to go through Black Road here take a left, towards Casamalia/Vandenberg as the sign says (this will take you south back towards Lompoc). If you are coming from Black Road and want to continue on Hwy 1 hang a left on Hwy 1.

Starting off with some long winding corners through rural farmland.

Riding parallel to the train tracks, approaching Casmalia.

You'll see a little turn-off Black Rd. to the town of Casmalia. There's not much there but if you need to stop you can do so here (no gas though).

This is the entire town of Casmalia.

Back to Black Rd, you start hitting some tighter corners...

When you get to the fork in the road go left on Casmalia Rd. About 300 yds. past that turn left on San Antonio Rd. West. Should you continue down Black Rd on the right you will quickly come to a Vandenberg Airforce Base entrance and will be unable to go further.

San Antonio Road West is basically flat and straight back to Hwy 1.
