| Lost Highway 1 - Santa
Rosa Road This Ride is on Leg 1 of the Lost Highway 1 Route |
![]() |
| The Santa Rosa Road ride is a nice 16 mi. stretch running from Hwy 1 to Hwy 246 & Hwy 101. It is well suited to cruising as several sections of the road are in less then desirable condition, although certainly ridable if your just out to enjoy some scenery. So, if you're in for a slow cruise through some rural backroad, were you'll be hardpressed to find any traffic, this is one you must try! |
Santa Rosa Road. The exit from Hwy 1 is about 3 miles south
of Lompoc. It is well marked and you should not miss it.
Easy to find with good sign postings on Hwy 1 in both directions.
|
| The View of the Santa Rosa Road run from atop Hwy 1. Sort-of calls to you..."ride me".....
|
Typical road and traffic conditions.
|
Parts of this run take you through some very rustic
farmland. This is one of the less than desirable road sections mentioned. While
it is paved, hard and dry it can be a bit rough.
|
This should be a good testament to the traffic conditions.
Hmm picture? Just park the bike in the middle of the road....This was on a mid
Sunday afternoon.
|
You'll pass by several tree groves which go back very deep.
They can be quite hypnotizing....
|
Back to the 2 lane, some great twisties...
|
The end of the ride dumps you out on Highway 256 in
Buellton. Directly ahead of the bike, beyond the street light, is the famous
Anderson's Split Pea Soup. From here you can go left on 256 and head back out
to Highway 1 or right to Hwy 101, or right on 246 and continue through to
Solvang and Highway 154
