This Ride is on Leg 1 of the Lost Highway 1 Route

Jalama Beach has got to be one of the best kept secrets in the county, and while the surfing community seems to be well aware of it not a lot of riders know about this gem. From old Hwy 1, Jalama Beach is a 14 mi. run of twisty 2 lane bliss leading to Jalama Beach County Park. The final destination, Jalama Beach, offers camping and is well maintained, so if your looking for a place to park the bike for the night and roll out the sleeping bag this would be an excellent choice. If your just looking for a little good riding on any given day you will not regret this little journey.

Jalama Beach Run. The exit to Jalama beach is about in the middle of the Gaviota entrance and Lompoc. It is well marked and you should not miss it.

Easy to find with good signage on Hwy 1.

Enter into Jamala Valley

Keeping in Hwy 1 tradition this is a very scenic ride.

This is the typical road condition for the majority of the ride, lots of twisties in and out of the trees. Some corners may have a slight buildup of loose gravel so keep an eye out for that. The gravel is almost solid white and easy to see on the roadway if present.

Loaded with picturesque valleys and rolling brown/green hills.

Really fantastic twisties.

It's even better in person....

Lots of scenery changes like this small stretch heading into the trees.

The final destination, Jalama Beach. Note that on the particular day of this picture, there had just been a fire north of the beach (Vandenberg fire). You can see the blackened land to the right and some smoke still in the air.

The Jalama Beach Campground. Featuring all the amenities of a well run County Park Campground. There is also a general store and a grill so if your hungry head on in! You'll have to pay the $5 day fee to get in + whatever your eaties cost but it's well worth the visit.

The Jalama Beach General Store and Grill. Available are burgers, hot dogs, tri-tip, etc.
